The 635 meter high Menara PNB 118 skyscraper in the heart of Kuala Lumpur impressively demonstrates how recognized the KNX standard in building automation is worldwide. When completed in 2024, it will be the tallest building in Malaysia. But even the intrinsic values convince: KNX products will ensure comfortable and reliable building automation.
The project, also known as "Merdeka 118", offers residential, hotel and commercial space covering an area of around 400,000 square meters. Even the parking area is impressive, with parking spaces for more than 8,500 cars.
Despite the gigantic figures, the building is to be certified by three certification bodies for environmentally friendly construction: LEED, Green Building Index (GBI) and GreenRE.
"We are particularly proud of the fact that, among other things, around 5,800 Theben devices are to be installed in the area of time and lighting control, including time-shift actuators in the parking garage, dimming actuators for the podium and actuators for blind control in the catering sector", notes CEO Paul Sebastian Schwenk. DALI and KNX products that are controlled via VARIA control panels are also about to be installed in the staircases, toilets, office areas and the corridors.
Due to the open technology as well as the flexibility for future expansion, KNX the worldwide standard in building automation was selected. Planning and integration is being carried out by the experienced KNX specialists Seikou Systec Sdn. Bhd. Even before this project there has been successful cooperation in major projects between Seikou Systec Sdn. Bhd. and Theben AG, which has earned an excellent reputation as a world leader in the fields of time and lighting control, climate control and KNX building automation.
